Four rusty metal ladders were installed onthe shore and partly in the sea of the German island Juist. As the tides come and go, the four-meter-long ladder is partly covered in water, depending on how high the sea rises. All four ladders guide a path from the beach to the sea, though sometimes the path is covered with water as well.

Children of the Sea is a collaboration with the Georgian artist Nanka Gogitidze. While the sculptures and their installation were constructed collaboratively, juxtapositional poems express two different positions on the individual meaning of the artwork. They are audible through speakers on the beach.
