How does it feel to be in an actual fire? In collaboration with the volunteer fire department and "Phoenix Deutschland", an aid organization for burn victims in Germany, the installation invites the audience to get an idea of how it feels to be caught in smoke. When entering the small room, all you can see is smoke and reflections of blue light. You can hear the voices of burn victims describing how they felt when they realized, they were in a fire. To create an authentic staging of the volunteer fire department needing support, the only way is to sensitize. The harmless replication of how it could actually feel like to be in a fire is what gives the audience an affecting insight into the topic.
